The time taken is generally dictated by the client.  If you have a deadline in mind I shall try to meet it. The most common delay in the creation of a site is waiting for content (text/images) from the client.

If you would like me to create your website all you need to do is tell me the domain name you'd like to use and give me an idea of your requirements.  You can check domain name availability here.  I can register the domain in your name and arrange the right hosting package for your project.   After that I'll need your guidance to design an initial web page for you. This is then amended in consultation with the you until a satisfactory design has been approved.  I will then need you to give me content and images for your site so I can start to design the website for you.

No I can do everything for you if you prefer.

The cost of a website varies, depending upon the type of site you require but a basic site can cost as little as £150 with an average or around £250.  A basic ECommerce site around £650 and a complex Database Driven ECommerce site from £1000+.  Obviously each site has to be treated on it's individual requirements, but these figures should give you a rough idea.  I normally ask for a 25% deposit to cover things like domain registration and hosting.  I can also arrange payment by instalments if necessary. Payment can be made by cheque, Bank transfer or by using Payal.  The only other cost will be your annual hosting fee, domain renewal and any additional work you require.

All my designs are created and conceived from your requirements.  I sometimes use use ready made templates to keep costs down, but I am happy to design from scratch.  So if you want an unusual or bizarre scheme you can have one!   I like to give 'value for money' websites and you might find a cheaper deal but these can work out to be a lot more expensive so make sure you're getting the service and support you need before and afterwards.

If you are making an enquiry about having a website, please provide a brief outline of your requirements.  I will then contact you with an idea of price and timescale and any suggestions with regard to your project.  You are not obliged to use my services at any stage during this process so feel free to use the form to ask any questions you may have.

Yes I generally ask for a 25% deposit to cover domain registration and hosting.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a method of transferring files (web pages for example) from your local PC to your web server. There are a variety of free ftp software programs available on the Internet and they enable you to update your website pages at any given time. When a hosting package is purchased 'ftp details', consisting of the host name, User ID and password are sent to us. Upon completion of the website and receipt of payment for any work carried out, we then send these details to the client.

It is free to submit to Google and I submit all the websites I create to Google, Yahoo! MSN, Lycos and AltaVista at least.

All web pages should be 'optimised'.  This will help your site to gain a high search engine ranking.  It involves carefully organising the meta tags on your web pages to work the way of the search engines prefer and a web page that isn't optimised won't appear in the rankings to any great degree.  For more on optimisation click here.

In most cases a meeting isn't necessary and 90% of my sites are completed with contact via email and telephone only - which is just as well since some of my clients are overseas.   Of course if you need training or hands-on instruction then we need to meet but unless there's a firm reason, it isn't necessary and any discussion can be done when it suits you since I don't keep regular office hours.

After the completion of a website I am available for after sales service.  Any slight tweaks or amendments are carried out to the site free of charge in the first three months. Any support thereafter will be charged at an hourly rate of £15.  If you are interested in a custom website design or have any other questions, please ask me for a free quote.
