Websites & VOIP Telecoms Solutions
I have a sister living in Spain and if I want to call her on my O2 phone it used to cost me £1.50 a minute. Texts were on average about 40 pence, and I couldn't use my free minutes or text outside the UK so what's the answer? Well even though the EU regulations have now brought about reduced call charges, there are still much cheaper options and if you like 'different' you'll like this one...
RebTel is one of several service providers who offer cheap international mobile calls and happens to be a favourite, simply for the ease of signing up and using the service. If you call abroad on your mobile, this is something you should consider.
It works by assigning a local number to your overseas contact so you pay only for a local call. They then route that call via the Internet (VOiP) and charge you a small amount per minute - around 10 pence normally.
Better still, if you have inclusive minutes, you can use these to call your overseas contact and just pay for the RebTel transfer so your call costs you just 10 pence a minute.
Now here're the best part of all, and I shouldn't really be telling you this, but... If your contact then disconnects and calls you back on the RebTel number on which you called them, the transfer is free so if you both have inclusive minutes, the whole call costs you nothing whatever! Free mobile to mobile calls!
In reality, for most calls one or both of you will pay a small charge to your service provider but nothing like what O2 (and others) charge for an overseas call. I pay the cost of the transfer via RebTel and use my 'free' minutes to call my sister and friends.
Just a tip - if you intend to go to another country, get yourself a SIM for that country and use a local network to call home, or have a look at the Oneroam option covered elsewhere.
You can register with RebTel just the same as long as the country is part of their network and most are. That way you can save money when on holiday or travelling and beat the outrageous call charges that we've had to endure for too long.
If you need more information or help setting up with RebTel, just get in touch and I'll do my best to help. See my Contact page for information on getting in touch.
